Latest Updates from Our Project:

Nations of Théah: Vol 2 in Print and Crescent Empire Preview
over 7 years ago – Thu, Jul 13, 2017 at 09:33:28 PM

Hey everyone!

Hot on the heels of our last update, we’ve got a preview of The Crescent Empire, print copies of Nations of Théah: Volume 2, and… a bunch of ENnie nominations!

ENnie Nominations!

Thanks to your support and enthusiasm for the return of 7th Sea, we’re thrilled to be nominated alongside many other wonderful games in this year’s ENnie Awards! You’ll find Pirate Nations, the 7th Sea Core Rulebook, the free 7th Sea Basic Rules and Mark Richardson’s wonderful map of Théah among the other nominations this year.

It’s because of the hard work of the writers, designers, and artists that 7th Sea is back again. Folks like Mike Curry, Rob Justice, and Mark Richardson will be up for their first ENnie nominations, and we’d love to see them get the recognition they deserve. Voting is open here, now through 11pm EDT on July 21st. We’d love your vote!

Here are the 7th Sea nomination categories for quick reference.

Thank you! What a journey it’s been! And we're not done yet...

Nations of Théah: Volume 2 in Print!

As promised, we’re ready to ship print copies of Nations of Théah: Volume 2 out to our backers. Danielle Lauzon, as Lead Developer, did an amazing job bringing this book to print, hot on the heels of Volume 1, and we can’t wait for you all to see it in print.

As with our other sourcebooks, we’ll be running the delivery for these books through our webstore via coupon codes delivered through Backerkit. We’ve already pushed those coupons out via email, but if you didn’t get an email, you can grab your coupon directly from the Backerkit Digital Downloads page:

https://7th-sea-second-edition.backerkit.com/backer/digital_rewards

Getting your book from our website is simple:

  • Get your coupon from Backerkit
  • Go to the product page on our website: http://bit.ly/2sREOzi
  • Add the coupon to your order at checkout
  • We’ll ship the book to you right away

Note that your coupon entitles you to free shipping on your book, which applies to any other books you add to your order as well (like an additional Core Rulebook, Pirate Nations or any other JWP product!) This coupon is also good for one year, so you can wait to use it if you’re about to change your address or want more than one book delivered at a time.

And if you didn’t yet purchase a physical copy of Nations of Théah: Volume 2 and want to pick one up… now is a great time to buy your copy direct from our webstore:

http://johnwickpresents.com/product/7th-sea-nations-of-theah-volume-2/

Congrats again to Danielle Lauzon and the crew of Nations of Théah: Volume 2! They’ve put together another beautiful book… one that might just show up at next year’s ENnies!

The Crescent Empire Preview

While Nations of Théah: Volume 2 is shipping out to backers, we’re ready to release our next sourcebook preview… one that dramatically expands the world of 7th Sea. It’s time for The Crescent Empire!

This sourcebook preview has also been pushed out to backers via Backerkit. If you didn’t get an email from Backerkit, you can grab the file directly from the Backerkit Digital Downloads page:

https://7th-sea-second-edition.backerkit.com/backer/digital_rewards

If for some reason your Backerkit doesn’t have the file, please message us via Kickstarter and we’ll get it sorted out for you. We can’t wait to get your feedback on our this book!

As before… please don’t email or post in the comments with your feedback. With over 11,000 backers, that would overwhelm our ability to deal with emails and comments. Instead give us feedback via this link by July 19th at 10:00pm Eastern:

https://goo.gl/forms/6tRcaIwai4LxQyMp2

We’ll be sending this book to the printer soon, so look for final PDFs before the end of the month, and printed books around the 1st of September.

Coming Soon...

Gen Con is coming up soon, but we've got a few more releases before we get there. Stay tuned for information about replacement cards for the Pirate's Booty, the first two 7th Sea Novels in print and our July production update. Thanks!

Production Update: June 2017 + Storium Release!
over 7 years ago – Fri, Jun 30, 2017 at 11:54:53 PM

Hey folks!

Thanks so much for your patience this month! We’ve got plenty of good production news for June, including the release of the 7th Sea Storium World, the launch of Nations of Théah on our webstore and on DTRPG, and an updated production schedule.

Oh... and we've got a pretty cool preview of some art from The Crescent Empire!

Storium World Codes

The 7th Sea Storium World (written by the awesome Tara Zuber) is now live on Storium. This was one of our first stretch goals for the Kickstarter, and we’re so thrilled to finally bring 7th Sea to Storium, one of our favorite online collaborative storytelling tools.

Avalon is a nation of three different people united – not all happily – under Queen Elaine. Besides this internal tension, foreign nations and the inscrutable Sidhe have their own demands. Is it better to help Avalon step back from the ledge or to hurl themselves over it?

As with other digital files, this free world has been pushed out to backers via Backerkit. If you didn’t get an email from Backerkit, you can grab the files directly from the Backerkit Digital Downloads page:

https://7th-sea-second-edition.backerkit.com/backer/digital_rewards

Let us know what you think of Trouble in Avalon in the comments! We always appreciate your feedback, and we’re so excited to make 7th Sea a part of the Storium experience.

(Note: If you already have a Storium account, you may have to log in through the main login before the 7th Sea World shows up on your account. Thanks!)

Nations of Théah in the Wild!

We’re happy to announce two new book launches this week: Nations of Théah: Volume 1 (physical) and Nations of Théah: Volume 2 (digital). If you’ve been waiting to pick up a physical book, Nations of Théah: Volume 1 is now live in our webstore

"Change is coming to Theah’s western nations. Tensions rise as disenfranchised, war-weary people grow restless under the unrelenting rule of the nobility. Now, the people look towards revolution as the only respite.”

Explore Théah’s western nations of Avalon, Castille, Montaigne, and Vestenmennavenjar, with expanded setting information, new backgrounds, new dueling styles and new monsters.

The Nations of Théah: Volume 2 PDF is also now live on DriveThruRPG

“Revolution, democracy, freedom—Théah’s eastern nations know these words well. As each nation struggles to find its footing in these treacherous new landscapes, unrest looms on the horizon.”

Explore the eastern nations of Eisen, The Sarmatian Commonwealth, Ussura, and Vodacce in a world where political upheaval lurks around every corner.

Backers have already received their copies of Nations of Théah: Volume 2 via their Backerkit digital downloads page, but please spread the word on Twitter and Facebook!

Shipping Update: Pirate’s Booty

At this point, all domestic orders of the Pirate’s Booty boxes and components (ordered before June 20, 2017) should be on their way to backers. Please let us know if you are a domestic backer who put your order in before June 21st and you haven’t heard any word about your shipment. Orders submitted after June 20th will be shipping this week with tracking numbers to follow.

International backers should see their packages quite soon. We’ve decided to transfer the stock over to our usual reshippers to avoid any more snafus, but those packages should be out to backers in the next week or so. If you’ve received a notice saying that your package has shipped (with no tracking number), don’t panic! That’s an error; we’ll be updating tracking numbers as they come in from our international reshippers.

Since we’ve had some delays moving the international packages through customs and to our reshippers, those packages will be delayed beyond June 30th. Our apologies! We’re working hard to make sure that everyone gets their packages as quickly as possible. We expect all the international packages to be delivered now by July 15th

Thanks again for the patience with these shipments. Moving thousands of dice, cards and boxes all around the world is a bit of a challenge, and we’re sorry that the rollout here has been a bit rough. We’re taking steps to make sure that we’ve got more control over the shipping process in the future.

Production Update: June 2017

The production engine keeps rolling on as we get closer to the physical release of Nations of Théah: Volume 2 and the first full preview of The Crescent Empire in July, our first non-Théan sourcebook! Below are the updates for changes in status; remember that you can view the full production schedule here anytime: http://johnwickpresents.com/7th-sea-production-schedule/

Book Updates:

  • Nations of Théah, Vol 2: COMPLETE, shipping to backers July 11th, 2017
  • The Crescent Empire: Layout to Proofing, delivery set to July 2017
  • The New World: Adjusted delivery to August 2017
  • Lands of Gold and Fire: Adjusted delivery to September 2017
  • The Colonies: Adjusted delivery to October 2017
  • Secret Societies: Adjusted delivery to November 2017

Accessory Updates:

  • Storium World: COMPLETE
  • Treasure Chests: COMPLETE
  • Maps: Delivery set to September 2017

Novels Updates:

  • Daughter of Fate: At Printer, Estimated Print Delivery: August 2017
  • Born Under the Black Flag: At Printer, Estimated Print Delivery: August 2017

On the sourcebook front, we’re spacing things out a bit to give our art and layout folks time to complete their work on each book. The text for all these books is already in dev editing, but we know that good art and layout takes time. Look for the Crescent preview in July followed by Aztlan and Ifri releases after Gen Con 2017 (August 2017).

Now that most of the Pirate Booty boxes have shipped, we’re winding down to the last of the accessories. The release of the Storium World and Treasure Chests means that the only thing left in this category are maps… and we’re going to be delivering those around September of this year. Mark Richardson has done an amazing job building the world of Théah, and we can’t wait to get physical maps out to backers!

Finally, we think we’ve resolved the cover issues for Daughter of Fate, along with finishing all the proofing notes for Born Under the Black Flag. Both books are at the printer now, so we may see them as early as late July if the proofing process goes smoothly. John’s still working on The Gossamer Empire, and we’ll have more updates on that schedule in July’s production update.

All in all, things are starting to wrap up on the production side! The Crescent Empire and The New World are right around the corner, with Lands of Gold and Fire soon to follow. It’s been a long journey--and it’s not over yet--but we’re working hard every day to move books from writing to editing to proofing to the printer...to your doorstep. We’ll do our best to keep our production schedule updated along the way. In the meantime, we’re starting to set our eyes to the not so distant future, where The East awaits...

War of the Cross Suspended

While our 7th Sea: Second Edition production schedule rolls on, we are suspending the War of the Cross Kickstarter. Here’s John from our update yesterday announcing the suspension:

“While we are very proud of our efforts to bring War of the Cross across the finish line, it appears we need to make some changes to make that happen. In order to make those changes, we'll be suspending the campaign for the time being. We don't use the word 'cancel' because that implies we'll never return to it. No, we're taking a short break, re-evaluating our strategies before we return.”

Thanks to all who supported War of the Cross! Don’t give up on us yet. We’ll be back after we have a few months to engage the board community, film some actual play videos and retool the rewards. Stay tuned!

The Crescent Empire Art Preview

Whew! This update was long... but while we were working on it, we got some AMAZING art in for The Crescent Empire. Here's a fresh-from-an-artist-today sneak peek at how the world of the Crescent will look:

Have a good weekend, everyone! We'll be back in early July with codes for Nations of Théah: Volume 2 in print and more previews!

War of the Cross is Live on Kickstarter!
over 7 years ago – Tue, Jun 20, 2017 at 09:07:40 PM

Hey folks! After more than a year of development, hours and hours of playtesting and twenty years of waiting (for me and Dave Williams, at least)... War of the Cross is now live on Kickstarter: http://kck.st/2rzmNoZ

Dave and I worked together a lot in “the old days” at AEG, and working with him again has been like a trip into the past. The chemistry and magic—in other words, “the alchemy”—is still there. Of course, I don’t want to cut out Luke Peterschidt because he’s been an incredibly important part of this project. Luke’s experience with producing board games has allowed us to avoid all kinds of land mines we wouldn’t have normally seen.

War of the Cross started as a dream, a hope that we could make a game that would stand next to my favorite strategic diplomacy games like Dune and Diplomacy. But thanks to advancements in printing and 3d modeling, it’s also become a game packed to the gills with miniatures, cards and so much more.

Here are a few of things that I’m most excited about:

  • Eight 40mm Heroes, special units from each of the Théan Nations
  • More than eighty army and naval units!
  • Dozens and dozens of cards and tokens
  • A beautiful board designed by Mark Richardson and Thomas Deeny

I’m not only excited about doing a board game with Luke and Dave, I’m also excited to tell the story of the War, something I’ve wanted to do since the game first came out in 1999. We’ve populated the game with heroes and stories that have been waiting for their opportunity to be seen... and a few Heroes you might find a bit familiar.

And we get to tell the story of those Heroes thanks to every last one of you amazing backers. Last year, the 7th Sea: Second Edition Kickstarter changed my life. It let us hire developers and artists and writers and designers to make the version of the game that’s been in my heart since Jennifer and I first pitched 7th Sea to AEG. We’ve still got a ways to go before we’re done shipping every last book, novel and accessory, but I’m so excited about everything you all have already made possible. I hope you join us on this next journey to Théah.

THANK YOU.

Hero and Villain Deck Printing Errors
over 7 years ago – Mon, Jun 19, 2017 at 12:31:00 AM

Hello everyone!

We’re so excited to see backers getting their Pirate Booty’s boxes… but we’ve got some bad news. We’ve gotten several reports of misprints in both the Deck of Heroes and the Deck of Villains, and we’ve confirmed with our printer that those misprints occurred in all printed copies of the decks.

Printing Error: Deck of Heroes and Deck of Villains

The error is easy to miss. In both decks, one of the card fronts has been repeated. Here are some pictures:

Missing Sakse Card
Missing Sakse Card

Missing Marrok Card
Missing Marrok Card

We are, unsurprisingly, not pleased with our printer. We’ve spent months working on the Pirate Booty boxes to make them an awesome addition to the 7th Sea: Second Edition line, and we are frustrated to get hit with a problem like this so late in the cycle.

That said, our printer has promised to make this right. We’re going to be shipping the missing cards (one per deck) to everyone, and they’re going to print up new decks to replace the ones we haven’t shipped out yet. Our hope is that we see all of this resolved before Gen Con 50 in August.

Right now, we’re still sorting out the details… but we’ll get more information from our printer soon. In the meantime, we’ll keep talking to the printer until everyone gets the missing cards!

Thank you so much for your patience with us on this one. Kickstarter give us an amazing opportunity to work with fans to create something unique and amazing… but it also means that you all have a front row seat to the trials and tribulations of printing games. We promise that we’re going to get this right, and we hope to do so quickly...and we really appreciate you all trusting us enough to wait for us to get these missing cards resolved!

Shipping Error: Sorte Promo Cards

Due to an unrelated issue at the warehouse, a few dozen backers were shipped a stack of promo Sorte cards instead of the appropriate add-on (usually the Deck of Villainy). The shipper has sent you a package with the correct add-on and a pre-paid return envelope to send the promo cards back to us. We’re (again) sorry for the error!

Shipping Update: International Orders

Our international orders are moving along smoothly, but we know folks are getting anxious. We’re going to get tracking numbers next week for most shipments, so please stay patient and keep your eyes peeled for more info on those international shipments. We’re still planning on having them out to folks by the end of June.

While we could wait to finalize these international shipments until we get the corrected decks, we're concerned that you all might end up waiting longer than expected if we hit any snags. For now, we're going to proceed with delivering all packages; we'll get the replacement cards out to you when they come in from China.

Thanks again to everyone for their support this month! We’ve got a lot of great news coming soon, including the Storium Deck, the launch of War of the Cross (June 20th!), and print copies of Nations of Théah: Volume 2 (July 10th!)...

Nations of Théah, Pirate’s Booty Shipping Update and War of the Cross Delays
over 7 years ago – Wed, Jun 07, 2017 at 12:10:21 AM

Hey all!

Right on the heels of our production update in May, we’ve got a bunch of new releases, including print copies of Nations of Théah: Volume 1, final PDFs of Nations of Théah: Volume 2, and some news on the upcoming launch of the new 7th Sea board game, War of the Cross

Pirate’s Booty Shipping Update (June 2017)

We’ve been working this past two weeks on getting everything in order and out to you all as soon as possible. Since there are over 5,000 items to ship, the process is a bit time consuming… but domestic backers should be getting tracking numbers for their pieces—including individual Sorte decks, dice, etc—this week. Our shippers have assured us that we should have all domestic packages delivered by June 15th.

In order to speed things along, we’re shipping additional books attached to these domestic orders separately. If you get your copy of Pirate Nations before your full Pirate’s Booty, no need to panic! The Pirate’s Booty will be along shortly.

International backers should be aware that our shipment there is moving slowly through the process, but we still expect to get you a package (including any additional books you ordered) by the end of June. We’ll get tracking numbers out to you all whenever possible, and we’ll have another update on international shipping next week. If there are any delays, we’ll let you know as soon as possible.

Our apologies for the lack of confirmation emails from our webstore when some backers put in their coupons. Apparently, you all overwhelmed our site to the point that some folks didn’t get notified that their orders went through. Please drop us a line via Kickstarter message if you are worried that your order didn’t actually make it through our system. We’ll get you sorted out.

And again...thank you for your patience with these shipments! This is the single biggest shipping project we’ve done since the Core Rulebook back in August 2016, and it’s going to take us some time to get your items out the door and into your crew’s cargo hold. Thanks!

Nations of Théah, Vol 1: Print Copies

And just as we’re getting the Pirate’s Booty out the door, we’ve received the print copies of Nations of Théah: Volume 1. Danielle Lauzon, as Lead Developer, did an amazing job bringing this book to print, and we’re so excited to get it into your hands!

  • Go to the product page on our website: http://bit.ly/2qTA0IS
  • Add the coupon to your order at checkout
  • We’ll ship the book to you right away

Note that your coupon entitles you to free shipping on your book, which applies to any other books you add to your order as well (like an additional Core Rulebook, Pirate Nations or any other JWP product!) This coupon is also good for one year, so you can wait to use it if you’re about to change your address or want more than one book delivered at a time.

And if you didn’t yet purchase a physical copy of Nations of Théah: Volume 1 and want to pick one up… now is a great time to buy your copy direct from our webstore:

http://johnwickpresents.com/product/nations-of-theah-volume-1/

Congrats again to Danielle Lauzon and her whole crew! They’ve put together a beautiful book, and we can’t wait to get it out to you all.

Nations of Théah, Vol 2 (DTRPG)

Now that we’ve finally finished all the print proofing for Nations of Théah: Volume 2, we’re ready to release the final PDF on DTRPG to backers:

What is free can never be caged.

What is caged will never know freedom.

Revolution, democracy, freedom—Théah’s eastern nations know these words well. As each nation struggles to find its footing in these treacherous new landscapes, unrest looms on the horizon.

This book contains material for 7th Sea: Second Edition including new Backgrounds, Advantages, Dueling styles and new monsters. It also includes expanded setting information for Théah’s four eastern nations:

  • Eisen, including information about the Eisenfursten, the Horrors within the nation, various locations around the nation, and an expansion on Hexenwerk.
  • The Sarmatian Commonwealth, with an inside look at the new nobility and those who oppose it, information on the two halves of the country and an in depth look at Sanderis.
  • Ussura, including a view of the two contenders for the throne, the Ussura countryside, and a look at Tur, a Leshiye as powerful as Matushka.
  • Vodacce, including the ongoings of the various cities in Vodacce, important people around the nation, and a look at what happens when Sorte is used untrained.

Adventure, political intrigue and upheaval lurk around every corner. Are you ready to take up the cause?

As with other final digital files, this sourcebook has been pushed out to backers via Backerkit. If you didn’t get an email from Backerkit, you can grab the files directly from the Backerkit Digital Downloads page:

https://7th-sea-second-edition.backerkit.com/backer/digital_rewards

Look for the Nations of Théah: Volume 2 PDF to go on sale on DTRPG in late June! We’ll also have print copies out to backers around July 10th and up for sale on our webstore by the end of July.

War of the Cross Launch Delay

While we’re very nearly ready to launch the Kickstarter for our diplomatic strategy game, War of the Cross, it looks like we were a bit premature in our last update. We’ve got a few art assets still to develop in order to finish our gameplay video, so we’ll be launching the campaign a little later in June. Thanks for your patience!

In the meantime, though… we thought we’d share another few preview images. This time we’ve got one of our favorite minis, the Porte mage along with some sample story cards and treasure cards:

Look for more information on War of the Cross soon!
